Hi, I'm Emily (she/her).
I am a high school English teacher in Western Massachusetts. As an educator, I find joy working in classrooms that emphasize creativity, personal agency, self-efficacy, and community. I strive to make my lessons matter, and to enable students to make connections between the reading and writing they do in class, their own lives, and the world outside our classroom.
I also find joy in all my "extracurriculars" -- from weaving to skiing to gardening to map collecting to playing Dungeons & Dragons! Few things bring me more excitement than learning something new.
I love writing, illustration, design, and am currently teaching myself animation.
I live with my husband, David Jonathan Ross, a typeface designer, and our dog, Lily. We live in one of the Hilltowns, about 25 minutes north of Northampton. Our house is located at the end of a half-mile driveway, on 35 mostly-wooded acres.
